Compacted Type 6X31 IWRC

6×31 compacted wire rope is a high-performance, 6-strand engineering rope with 31 wires per strand, featuring compacted outer strands for increased surface area, higher breaking strength, and superior abrasion resistance. It offers excellent fatigue resistance for heavy-duty crane, hoist, and winch applications, available in Galvanized or IWRC (Independent Wire Rope Core).

Key Features & Advantages:

  • Construction: 6 strands, each with 31 wires (often Warrington Seale), compressed to reduce diameter and increase density.
  • High Strength: The compacted, or “swaged,” process increases metallic area, offering superior breaking loads compared to standard 6×19 or non-compacted 6×31 ropes.
  • Abrasion Resistance: The smooth outer surface reduces friction and wear on drums and sheaves.
  • Flexibility: While strong, it maintains good flexibility suitable for hoisting systems.
  • Core: Usually supplied with an Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC) for maximum strength and support.

Common Applications:

  • Cranes & Lifting: Ideal for boom hoists, trolley lines, and mobile cranes.
  • Industrial: Winch lines, logging mainlines, and clam shell buckets.
  • Marine: Heavy-duty mooring or crane use, often in galvanized coating for corrosion resistance.

Specifications:

  • Finish: Bright or Galvanized.
  • Lay: Right Regular Lay (RRL) or Left Regular Lay (LRL).
  • Material: Steel.
