Protective Sleeve

Polyester protective sleeves for ropes are used across marine, climbing, and industrial applications to prevent abrasion, overheating, and premature wear. These sleeves are typically chosen for their high tenacity, oil resistance, and durability in harsh outdoor environments.

Specifications

Winch and Towing Protectors

These sleeves are designed for synthetic winch lines and towing applications, often featuring a coarse weave to handle high-friction scenarios.

Heavy-Duty and Marine Solutions

Designed for mooring and larger industrial ropes, these products often feature high-visibility colors and reinforced materials. Manufactured high-tenacity polyester, these orange sleeves use a heavy-duty Velcro lining for easy installation on any fiber rope. They are noted for being highly cut-resistant.

Flexible and Specialty Sleeving

For more intricate rigging or cable management, expandable or coiled sleeves are used.

Commercial Marine & Shipping

For commercial vessels, polyester protective sleeves (often called chafe guards) are sized based on the rope diameter and the flat width of the sleeve to ensure it can wrap around thick mooring or towing lines.

Standard Mooring Rope Protection

We offer high-tenacity polyester sleeves categorized by the rope’s diameter:

  • Small/Standard: Fits rope diameters from 20mm to 40mm. These sleeves typically have a flat width of approximately 250mm to 300mm.
  • Medium/Heavy-Duty: Fits rope diameters from 44mm to 66mm. These usually feature a flat width of 350mm to 400mm.
  • Large/Extra Heavy-Duty: Fits rope diameters from 68mm up to 100mm. These sleeves have a flat width of 500mm to accommodate very thick mooring lines.

Specialized and Bulk Sizing

For specific rigging or long-run applications, sizes vary by specific lengths and material density:: Available in bulk lengths (up to 1.98 meters) with an inner diameter of 1-3/8 inches (approx. 35mm) and a 2-inch width. It is designed for moderate conditions where a flexible, adjustable length is needed.

Large Vessels (Tankers/VLCCs): Often use synthetic tails with protected eyes that must meet OCIMF guidelines for much larger diameters.
