Pile Pitching Clamp

A pile pitching clamp is a specialized lifting tool designed to handle and pitch steel sheet piles safely during construction and foundation work. These clamps are typically equipped with a long release rope—often 15 meters—allowing operators to detach the clamp from the ground once the pile is positioned, eliminating the need for a worker to climb the pile.

Specifications

Key Features and Safety

  • Release Mechanism: Most models feature a pull-rope for remote release from the ground for improved job site safety.
  • Integrated Shackle: High-quality pitching clamps come standard with a heavy-duty shackle for secure attachment to a crane or hoist.
  • Lifting Only: These clamps are strictly for pitching and lifting; they are not designed for extracting driven piles, as the forces involved in extraction can cause mechanical failure.
  • Certification: Reputable manufacturers provide CE-marked and fully tested units to meet international safety standards.

How to order:

  1. Determine Working Load Limit (WLL): Common capacities include 2.0T (2000kg), 3.0T (3000kg), and 5.0T (5000kg).
  2. Check Jaw Width: Ensure the clamp’s slot width (typically 20mm to 35mm) can accommodate the thickness of your specific steel sheet piles.
  3. Confirm Accessories: Standard units usually include a 15-meter release ropeand an integrated lifting shackle.
  4. Verification: Always ensure the unit comes with a Proof of Load Testcertificate and meets regional safety standards (e.g., CE marking for Europe).

Important Safety Note: Pile pitching clamps are designed only for lifting and positioning (pitching). They are not rated for extracting piles from the ground; for extraction, you must use a dedicated pile pulling clamp.
